Wild Honey

Wild Honey is a funk and rock band that will move you with their high-energy mix of songs by such composers as Prince, Stevie Wonder, and The Beatles. The band features dynamite vocalist Barbara Meyer — backed by a smokin' rhythm section. Expect fresh, creative interpretations of songs familiar and not-so-familiar from the pen of leader/arranger Cheri Sykes. You’ll want to throw down and groove -- guaranteed!

In a Wild Honey show, you’ll notice recurring themes of human connection and community. That makes Wild Honey a good choice for your local festival or non-profit event. But the songlist is flexible enough for any setting — please ask! (By the way, Wild Honey also offers a first-class gospel/jazz show.)

Minneapolis-based Wild Honey, formed in 1998, released CDs in 2005, 2011, and 2016 – and have been featured on Twin Cities jazz radio station KBEM and KARE-11 TV's "Minnesota Showcase."

We've been in the studio recording Cheri's arrangements of three songs: Get On the Boat‚ a great funk tune written by Prince Rogers Nelson, Put a Little Love In Your Heart‚ Jackie DeShannon's 1968 rave-up, and Common Ground‚ a smooth jazz tune with lyrics by Paul Winter.

All three of these feature our great lead singer, Barbara Meyer. We now have a total of six recent recordings, on our way to a new CD.
